You want Underwater Combat? Capcom heard you!
But... what about this? Instead of fighting monsters underwater what if they brought the water monsters to land... It's the same thing right? You get to fight an octopus! Well it's a hexopus, so you get to fight a hexapus! It looks more like a cuddle fish, but without the changing colors and shapes and minus two legs. Meet Nu Udra! The name roughly translates into "not underwater [combat]".
So to cure your disappointment, that it's not underwater, they allow the beast to set itself on fire. So it's not a water monster, it's an oil monster. Does this mean there will be under-oil combat? Probably not.
The devs say you can sever all of the tentacles that touch the ground. This will be a fun challenge to see if you can lop off all of it's legs before it dies.
It can attack with each tentacle independently. So it doesn't need to see you to attack you. The devs mentioned that it's eyes don't work like that, so it can't be flashed. Each tentacle has a "sensory organ" that allows it to find a target. So does this mean that each hunter attacking from different directions will have their own psuedo-fight? Hmmm...
So a bunch of lubed up oily hands trying to grab you... "Ain't no party like a Nu Udra party!" We'll have to investigate to see if this monster was conceived of before or after September 16, 2023. Did Capcom draw inspiration from the news or is this just a coincidence?
